What Your Inner Child Wants You to Know (And How Tarot Can Help You Listen)

Within each of us lives an Inner Child—the innocent, creative, tender part of our soul that longs to be seen, heard, and loved. For many, this Inner Child holds not only joyful memories but also unhealed pain from times we felt unsafe, unseen, or silenced. When left unheard, this part of us may quietly influence our adult lives in the form of self-doubt, fear of abandonment, or chronic people-pleasing. But when we choose to reconnect with this part of ourselves, true healing can unfold.

One of the most powerful ways to begin listening to your Inner Child is through Tarot and Oracle cards. These visual tools of self-reflection speak the symbolic language of the subconscious. Just as a child often communicates through imagery, play, and metaphor, Tarot offers a similar medium to express what words sometimes cannot.

Listening Through Symbols: How Tarot Connects You to Your Inner Child

When you pull a card, ask yourself not just what the card means traditionally, but what it evokes in you personally. For example:

  • Does The Empress remind you of your own mother or a nurturing part of yourself?

  • Does the Page of Cups feel like your childhood curiosity or a desire for emotional safety?

  • Does a card with a castle or forest bring back childhood dreams or fears?

These responses are clues from your Inner Child. Tarot isn't about prediction here—it's about permission: permission to explore, to remember, and to heal.

Common Messages From Your Inner Child

You may find that your Inner Child is asking:

  • "Can we slow down and play?"

  • "I want to feel safe."

  • "Please stop being so hard on me."

  • "Do you still believe in magic?"

Instead of brushing these thoughts aside, you can begin to respond with compassion and care.

A Gentle 3-Card Inner Child Spread

Here’s a simple spread you can use at any time:

  1. What does my Inner Child need from me right now?

  2. What is blocking me from hearing them?

  3. What healing energy wants to come through?

You can pull from your Tarot deck or combine with an Inner Child Oracle, and use your intuition to interpret the messages.

Healing Integration: Reiki, Compassion Key, Zensight & the Violet Flame

Once the messages are revealed, it’s important to follow through with support. Here are some healing practices you can use:

  • Reiki: Place your hands over your heart or belly and send loving energy to your Inner Child.

  • Compassion Key: Say phrases like, “I send compassion to the part of me that felt alone.” or "I'm so sorry you felt alone."

  • Zensight Process: Visualize linking the painful memory to a healing image, gently reprogramming the emotional charge.

  • Violet Flame: Call in the Violet Flame of transmutation to clear lingering pain and uplift your energy.

These modalities help not only to uncover wounds, but to soothe and transform them.

You Are Not Alone

Healing the Inner Child is sacred work, and you don’t have to do it alone. I invite you to join me at my next Reiki Circle for World Peace on Wednesday, August 13th at 7:00 p.m. EST. I’ll be collaborating with the beautiful Danielle of Superfine Life, who will guide us in a JourneyDance to awaken the body and spirit before we enter a Reiki healing experience together.

Bring your softness, your curiosity, and your open heart. There is space for all of you here—especially your Inner Child.

With love and light,

Sandy
